Migraine Can Treat with Making Love

A healthy sex can not only refreshes the mind but can also be beneficial to health. One of them, sex may treat migraines or headaches.

The reason why sex can treat migraines is because at the moment of orgasm, the body releases certain chemicals in the brain that works to reduce migraine.

Based on a study in the journal Headache reports indicate that the neurotransmitter serotonin is released during sex, creates all the sensations that make people feel good.

“In addition, when the body releases endorphins orgasm that works to relieve pain,” explains Dr. Alexander Mauskop of the New York Headache Center, as reported by everydayhealth.

Endorphins are chemicals such as opiates, which is associated with feelings, positive feelings and happiness, as well as saving the pain messages to the brain.

Unlike painkillers which could take up to 15 minutes to work, these body chemicals work immediately and turn off the migraine.

Migraine is genetic and people who are prone to migraines are also more prone to develop other types of headaches. Although the most common migraine symptoms such as sensitivity to light, sound, some odor, nausea and a constant throbbing pain, but the cause of migraine is different for each person.

According to Dr. Mark W. Green, director of the Headache Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, there are thousands of genes and combinations of chemicals that regulate the tendency for migraine.

But in some people with certain health conditions, having sex can actually trigger a headache. This is because sex can increase blood pressure and cause dilation of blood vessels in the brain.

“Sex is similar to a sport that is physical activity. When people are prone to headaches, so severe pressure on the back and neck during sex can trigger a recurrence of headaches,” explains Dr. Mauskop.

Meanwhile, according to Dr. Green, headache during sex most often seen in people with migraine because it already has genetically to develop headaches.
